Cry for Zion, a multi-faith NGO advocating equal rights for all religions on the Temple Mount released a petition calling for Jewish sovereignty at the site. On their website, the organization stated their motives for initiating the petition: “The Temple Mount is the holiest place on earth to the Jewish people. As of 1967,

‘Evangelism Is A Form Of Colonialism’: A Response To Efe Plange

Written by | December 6, 2018 | 0
File Photo A few days ago, I read Efe Plange’s article, ‘Evangelism is a form of colonialism,’ published by City Newsroom, with some concerns. The article discusses John Allen Chau, a twenty-six years old native of Vancouver, Washington and Christian missionary, who was killed by the people of the Sentinel Island in India’s Bay of Bengal. The members of the island have been isolated for centuries. They are aggressive and hostile to outsiders who attempt to interact with them. Also, under Indian law, the island is off-limits to visitors. Following his Christian mandate to preach the Gospel truth to all, John decided to go to the islanders to share God’s word with them. John knew that he was putting his life on the line when he decided to go to the island. In a note

Prayer Devotional for the Day

Prayer Devotional for the Day   Dear heavenly Father, we worship You as the Almighty God, Maker of heaven and earth! May we, as Your children, always keep an attitude of being meek and lowly before Your throne. Lord, if we have any wisdom, knowledge and understanding, it is because You have enlightened us. I thank You for Your gift of Jesus to us, so that we do not have to go to hell and can now have our home in heaven with You. I am eternally grateful for Your love and sacrifice. It makes me ask the question David asked, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” I praise You for crowning us with Your glory and honor because of Jesus. Amen.

Thought for the Day

Thought for the Day Verse 25 – The fear of man, and allowing people to intimidate us, brings a snare upon us. Fear is as confining as a trap, preventing us from doing what we ought. We must put our trust in the Lord, and not fear what man might do to us. We must learn to cry out to Him when we are in trouble, for He will keep us safe (Psalm 56:9-11). Those who are “born again” will find that the Lord is on their side, and if God is for us, what man can stand against us? God is the final authority, and nothing can separate us from His love. “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing

Prayer Devotional for the Day   Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the wonderful truth that You are on my side. Lord, deliver me from any trace of the fear of man. May I rather, always have the fear and respect of God in my heart, above any man. I know You will defend me and take care of me, no matter what I face; therefore, I will not fear what man can do unto me. Thank You that nothing can separate me from Your love. Lord, I choose to walk in Your ways and keep Your commandments. I choose life and blessing for myself and for my children. I declare this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thought for the Day

Thought for the Day Verse 22 – Giving vent to anger rather than properly handling it leads to many other sins, such as blasphemy, destruction of property, strife, abuse, and even murder. Anger is a form of pride, and pride breeds many other woes. An angry man will stir up strife, thus causing dissension. Some people think that they can manage their anger if it is directed at just one person; however, a spirit of anger is not easy to contain. Anger toward even one person will spill out upon those with whom we are not angry. That is why we must resist unbridled anger, and learn to release it to God by forgiving others when they hurt us. Verse 23 – Pride is another deadly sin. If we exalt ourselves, we will be brought down from our lofty place. “Pride goeth before destruction,

Prayer Devotional for the Day   Dear heavenly Father, I come to You, asking that You deliver me from all pride and anger. I truly want to be like Jesus, who was meek and lowly. Father, help me to remain humble and always be willing to assume the place of a servant. May I always be sensitive to the needs of others and look for ways to help them. I am reminded in Your Word that we are told, by love, we are to serve one another. Fill me with Your love, so that I might love those around me and serve them as You would. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Humans Didn’t Outsmart Neanderthals, We Just Outlasted Them

Neanderthal extinction may well have been a function of population dynamics, not inferiority. IAIN MASTERTON/GETTY IMAGES/CANOPY We modern humans feel pretty smug about Neanderthals. It’s the story winners often tell themselves about losers: They couldn’t cut the mustard, they weren’t smart or tough or adaptable enough. To us survivors, there is a moral to the Neanderthals’ story: We’re still here because we played the game better, worked harder, made fewer mistakes. The Neanderthals were obviously not very smart since they went extinct. But why do we think that? In science, there’s this concept called parsimony — the idea that the simplest explanation that fits the evidence is the one that’s probably correct. And evidence that Neanderthals

Funerals Have Changed Since the 1960s. Here’s How

The body of Aretha Franklin lies in repose at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History on Aug. 28, 2018, in Detroit, Michigan. Family, friends and fans were able to pay their respects to Franklin during a week of events celebrating the singer’s life. The funeral itself was a day-long, live-streamed affair. PAUL SANCYA-POOL/GETTY IMAGES You know the image of a standard American, usually Christian, funeral: It takes place at a funeral home with attendees dressed in all black. An open casket with an embalmed body rests in front of the crowd. After the service, a hearse takes the casket to a cemetery for burial. This was a conventional funeral in the 1960s, but this send-off of the dead has undergone adjustments over the decades. Perhaps the most significant

Anti-Semitism Part of the War of Gog and Magog Says End Times Rabbi

Now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me; moreover, I have seen how the Egyptians oppress them. Exodus 3:9 (The Israel Bible™) Apocalyptic background – judgment day, end of the world. (Credit: IgorZH/Shutterstock.com) In an interview earlier this week, End of Days expert Rabbi Mendel Kessin told radio talk show host Tamar Yonah of Israel News Talk Radio that anti-Semitism is a signal that God is accelerating the end times. “We are very close to the end. We are looking at a messianic process that has been going on for quite awhile. And what you’re seeing now unfolding is a process that will bring the Moshiach(Messiah). That’s really what’s happening. “What you’re looking at, in many ways, is an acceleration of the end, just like it happened in Egypt. What God seems
