“There are over 1,500 persons who work directly for Proximus in different call centres in our country, such as Mifratel, Ikanbi, IPG, B-connected, Call Excell and other smaller call centres,” Setca explained. “These workers are, in any event, in a particularly vulnerable position since many of them are employed under interim contracts.”
Proximus has announced its intention to review its contracts with the outsourced call centres. “In its communication, management spoke explicitly in favour of delocalising (near- and offshoring) call centre activities, leaving the sub-contractors to deal with that!” Setca stressed,
The union has alerted Labour Minister Kris Peeters to the telecoms giant’s responsibility towards its sub-contractors and to conserving jobs in Belgium.
