Prayer Devotional for the Day

Written by | December 6, 2018 | 0
Prayer Devotional for the Day   Dear heavenly Father, I come to You, asking that You deliver me from all pride and anger. I truly want to be like Jesus, who was meek and lowly. Father, help me to remain humble and always be willing to assume the place of a servant. May I always be sensitive to the needs of others and look for ways to help them. I am reminded in Your Word that we are told, by love, we are to serve one another. Fill me with Your love, so that I might love those around me and serve them as You would. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Humans Didn’t Outsmart Neanderthals, We Just Outlasted Them

Neanderthal extinction may well have been a function of population dynamics, not inferiority. IAIN MASTERTON/GETTY IMAGES/CANOPY We modern humans feel pretty smug about Neanderthals. It’s the story winners often tell themselves about losers: They couldn’t cut the mustard, they weren’t smart or tough or adaptable enough. To us survivors, there is a moral to the Neanderthals’ story: We’re still here because we played the game better, worked harder, made fewer mistakes. The Neanderthals were obviously not very smart since they went extinct. But why do we think that? In science, there’s this concept called parsimony — the idea that the simplest explanation that fits the evidence is the one that’s probably correct. And evidence that Neanderthals

The body of Aretha Franklin lies in repose at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History on Aug. 28, 2018, in Detroit, Michigan. Family, friends and fans were able to pay their respects to Franklin during a week of events celebrating the singer’s life. The funeral itself was a day-long, live-streamed affair. PAUL SANCYA-POOL/GETTY IMAGES You know the image of a standard American, usually Christian, funeral: It takes place at a funeral home with attendees dressed in all black. An open casket with an embalmed body rests in front of the crowd. After the service, a hearse takes the casket to a cemetery for burial. This was a conventional funeral in the 1960s, but this send-off of the dead has undergone adjustments over the decades. Perhaps the most significant

A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!” Psalms 83:1-17 (The Israel Bible™) Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison. These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and perfect justice in your gates. Zechariah 8:16 (The Israel Bible™) (Credit: Breaking Israel News) The mainstream media was quick to jump on news predicting the pre-Messiah battle of Gog and Magog, with many outlets misstating facts and misrepresenting the important theological concepts. “Observe them faithfully, for that will be proof of your wisdom and discernment to other peoples, who on hearing of all these laws will say, ‘Surely, that great nation is a wise and discerning people.’” Deuteronomy 4:6 (The Israel Bible™) (Shutterstock) “There is currently a surge in the publication of books that convey Torah teachings to the non-Jewish world, and such literature is being published at an ever-increasing rate, for one good reason. “There is clearly a massive appetite and yearning among the Nations to understand what the Jews are really about, and to hear from them and understand what the Torah has to say about God’s unfolding plan for the geula – the imminent redemption of the entire world. “This remarkable phenomenon of the awakening of so many holy

Wolicki told Breaking Israel News that, “Over the last few decades, there has been an awakening in many parts of the Christian world, to different degrees, more than people realize, in terms of an interest in Judaism and the Jewish people.” He emphasized that it isn’t merely the creation of

“Hashem is close to the brokenhearted; those crushed in spirit He delivers.” Psalms 34:19 (The Israel Bible™) Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi, a well-known mystic rabbi with a large following, has made several predictions about the Messiah. (Courtesy/Breaking Israel News) The mass murder in a Pittsburgh synagogue on during Shabbat services on Saturday has left the American nation and the Jewish people reeling, but rabbis assure that even this painful episode is an important stage in the ultimate and imminent redemption. On Saturday morning, Robert Bowers entered the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill suburb in the middle of Shabbat prayers. A brit milah (circumcision) of an eight-day-old infant was taking place in one section of the synagogue. Bowers did not come to join in the prayers
