Re-Marriage And Adultery By Eze Udoma

thumb (1)There is nothing wrong with remarriage as long as it follows the approval plan of Yahweh Elohim. Throughout the scripture, the only approved condition for remarriage is when one of the spouses on the previous marriage approved by Yahweh is dead. Only then, the living spouse is freed from the union and is can remarry.

The binding nature of marriage depends not on the will or the acts of the married persons, but on the original composition and institution of marriage. By repealing the Mosaic compromise of marriage in Deuteronomy 24:1-4 and the restoration of marriage to its original standard in Mathew 19:7-9, Yeshua enforces the high dignity and sanctity of the law of marriage and prevents many potential opportunities to implement wickedness in marriage.

Fornication and adultery are unlawful sexual sins, which do not mean the same thing. Fornication is a sin involving people who have never married or people who are never married but engaged in marriages not approved by Yahweh.

Adultery is the sin involving people in marriages approved by Yahweh and anyone else outside that marriage; people in such proper marriages do not commit fornication regardless of if the person involved in the sexual sin with them is married or never married. People (married or never married) engaged in sexual sin with properly married people also commit adultery.

Yeshua perfectly applies both words on the same discussion and on the same sentence: “But I say unto you (married people), that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication (i.e. the unlawfully married, who fornication is applicable to), causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery”-Mathew 5:31-32; Matthew 19:9. See also “fornicators and adulterers” in Hebrews 13:4.

Because anyone can commit adultery and properly married people cannot commit fornication, Yehsua would state thus: “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”- Mathew 5:27-28. Because properly married person cannot commit fornication, every chance for divorce is firmly prohibited.

The nonexistence of divorce in the scripture ties all humans without exception to Yahweh’s only approved plan for remarriage-Romans 7:2-3; 1Corinthians 7:10; 7:39 and the key to sticking to this plan is humility and courage.

There are still growing understanding of 1 Corinthian 7:15 by some. The “Not under bondage” is not a 2nd reason for remarriage. To imply that is to say, if ‘A’ and ‘B’ are in Yahweh approved marriage, whenever either of them is unhappy with the marriage for whatever reason, all ‘A’ or ‘B’ need do is renounce their believe in Yeshua and turn to an unbeliever; then walk out of the marriage; remarry and return to the Lord (i.e. eating ones cake and having it back). Such understanding is even in opposition to Paul’s other positions in Romans 7:2-3; 1Corinthians 7:10; 1Corinthians 7:39.

Further grounds that seem to give validity for remarriage include those supported by Bethlehem Baptist church USA. John Piper is the senior pastor and a very passionate preacher of the gospel. There are in three categories.

1. Deuteronomy 24:1-4. The problem with Deuteronomy 24:1-4 is Yeshua who is the authority and whose word is the law-Isaiah 9:6; Mark 9:7; John 14:6. His words and not the words of Moses should prevail. He clarified Deuteronomy 24:1-4 in Matthew 19:9. Divorce does not exist with Yahweh. The scripture provides only one approved condition for remarriage, which is death-1Corinthians 7:39.

2. The woman at the well-John 4:3. The five husbands mentioned do not clarify what type of husbands they were. Whenever a marriage occurs regardless of their legality, the spouses become known as husband and wife. If the 6th person who lived with the woman had not been married to her, he cannot be called her husband. Yet, it is also not impossible her past marriages ended with the deaths of 5 past husbands. John 4:3 is no 2nd reason for remarriage.

3. Vows. Besides Psalms 15:4, are the Gibeonite, Jehoshaphat, King Herod, etc. all of whom made hurting vows, which they all kept. They kept those vows because they were bound by their vows just as Elohim ties us to all marriage vows He supervises and approves. All approved marital vows are the ones to be kept however hurting they might appear. Elohim will spare no time allowing subsequent marital vows which are outside His approved remarriage plan. Yahweh Elohim who hates divorce cannot turn and accept sin of separation and sin of adultery. He had all humanity in mind when He instituted this law and as such commands all humanity to obey it-Matthew 19:6.

May Yahweh continue prosper Bethlehem Baptist Church and those who believe in Him with His love and wisdom; May the Lord never cease to use them in ways that continue to glorify our father who is in Heaven.

To Elohim be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.
