AFTER arriving in dramatic fashion a week ago, Edmund McKinnon Gyngell has left hospital for the family home in Sydney.
The first child for Nine Entertainment boss David Gyngell, 46, and his Weekend Today co-host wife Leila McKinnon, 40, was snapped looking cosy in his mother’s arms as the couple left The Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick.
The power couple’s first child chose deadline day for Nine Entertainment’s debt negotiations to make his arrival.
The call from McKinnon to her husband came in the middle of crisis talks between Channel Nine and its creditors forcing the chief executive to make a mad dash for the delivery room.
But it was all worth it for Gyngell who has thanked friends and family for their well wishes saying, “All new parents say it I know , but they are right ….this is without doubt THE best day of my life . There’s nothing that comes even close to matching it. Leila and I are absolutely thrilled and we just adore baby Ted. And grateful to all our well-wishers.”
McKinnon took to Twitter today to congratulate colleague and weatherman Stevie Jacobs and his wife Rosie who announced they are expecting their second child::
“Huzzah for @sjweather9 Stevie and Rose – congratulations on the baby news, see you in the twilight zone soon. @thetodayshow.”
