The Hungarian Ambassador to Ghana, Andras Szabo has proposed the institution of a music festival dubbed “Hungary-Ghana Music Festival” to boost tourism between the two countries.

The Music festival, which will be an annual event will be hosted in Accra and Cape Coast and will feature both Ghanaian and Foreign artiste.

The objective is to increase arrivals into Ghana particularly from Hungary whilst providing a platform for people to network and explore business opportunities.

This was disclosed by the Ambassador when he called on the Hon. Catherine Afeku, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture at her office in Accra.

According to the Ambassador, music is one of the avenue for directing tourist traffics into a country and thus appealed for support from the Ministry in making this programme a reality.

He indicated that, the idea was borne out of the feedback they received when the Embassy organised a music concert at the Alliance Francais during the Hungarian Culture Week.

Mrs. Catherine Afeku lauded the initiative and pledged the ministry’s and for that matter government’s support to the programme.

“This is a very good programme and a good way of boosting tourism between our countries, I believe with your links to sponsors and our commitments, we can take this programme far,” said the Minister.

The Minister requested of the Ambassador an assistance to build the capacity of Ghanaian industry players in hotel management, food and beverage, culinary, front desk management architecture and curation.

The Ambassador was accompanied by David Bekesi, Economic Counsellor, was also to announce the opening of the Hungarian Embassy in Ghana and to ensure that the already sound working relationship between the two countries would further be cemented.
